IRCC implemented changes to the Agri-Food Pilot Program

On February 12, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced further revisions to the Agri-Food Pilot Program. These changes aim to make the program more accessible and beneficial to both workers and employers in the agri-food sector.  In line with the instructions announced on May 8, 2023, the Government of Canada updated the Agri-Food Pilot program to include the following changes: applicants in Canada now have the flexibility to meet either the job offer or education requirements and submit work experience gained under an open work permit for vulnerable workers. These changes have positive implications for both employees and employers in the agri-food sector. By providing more flexibility in meeting eligibility criteria, the revised program attracts a more diverse set of candidates, including those who may have gained relevant experience through alternative channels such as open work permits. In Canada, the highest Employment rates for immigrants who Landed from Africa and Asia

In Canada, the highest Employment rates for immigrants who Landed from Africa and Asia  According to a Statistics Canada study, there are the highest Employment rates for immigrants who Landed from Africa and Asia than other regions. For immigrants over 15 years old in 2023, employment rates were:  Africa: 67.7%,  Asia: 66.3%,  Latin America: 66%,  North America: 56.6%, and  Europe: 56.6% (national average: 62.7%).  However, when looking at core-aged immigrants (25-54 years), the results inverted:  Europe: 88.3%,  Latin America: 82.8%,  North America: 82.7%,  Asia: 81.7%,  Africa: 79.8% (national average: 82.6%).  This suggests African and Asian immigrants are more likely to work outside the core age group, possibly due to cultural differences in schooling years. However, the study doesn't include temporary workers and international students who comprise a significant part of Canada's labor force, with 797,225 valid work permit holders in December 2022 and close to a million in

Canada added over a million people for the first nine months of 2023, breaking 2022's record.  96% of the growth in the third quarter of 2023 was due to international migration, and the rest was from natural increase. Canada welcomed nearly 108,000 immigrants in the third quarter of 2023 and reached 80% of its annual immigration target by September. All provinces and territories except the Northwest Territories saw population growth, with Alberta, Prince Edward Island, and Ontario surpassing the national average. Canada provides undocumented individuals with a new route to permanent residency

Canada provides undocumented individuals with a new route to permanent residency  Canada's Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced a comprehensive program allowing undocumented people to apply for permanent residence . This aligns with Canada's immigration targets, aiming to admit up to 500,000 immigrants by 2025. An estimated 300,000 to 600,000 individuals currently live in Canada without valid documents, facing potential deportation.  The program will also cover those who overstayed their visas . However, not all will be eligible to apply. Undocumented migrants typically fall out of status due to failing eligibility criteria for overstaying their authorized period. A small portion unlawfully entered or was trafficked into Canada. In addition to people who entered the nation illegally, the proposed program will also cover people who initially came as foreign students or temporary workers and decided to stay in the country after their visas expired.
