  Canada held a new Express Entry draw and issued 4,750 ITAs On December 6, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 4,750 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under the Express Entry draw #272. In this draw, IRCC invited candidates under all immigration programs.  In the latest round of invitations, the cut-off score was 561 points, 61 points more than in the previous all-program draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round was November 8, 2023, at 06:00:13 UTC.  As of December 5, 2023, there are 217,370 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool.   Canada Immigration targets stabilizing to support sustainable growth Immigration is crucial for Canada's growth, with about 23% of the population being immigrants, the highest among the G7. The 2024 immigration target is 485,000, 1.2% of Canada's population. Canada's working population is declining, with the current ratio of workers to seniors at 3:1, expected to drop to 2:1.  This aging workforce leads to labor shortages , which immigration can alleviate.   Canada extended measures for temporary and permanent residents affected by wildfires On October 4, 2023, the Canadian Government extended temporary measures for communities affected by the 2023 wildfire.  To be eligible for special measures, applications for document replacement, extension, or restoration must be submitted by November 30, 2023. On June 12, 2023, the Government announced free replacement documents for Canadians and residents who lost or damaged their documents due to the fires.  Temporary residents affected by the wildfires whose status was expiring by September 30, 2023, could extend or restore their status in Canada for free. The 2020 General Social Survey (GSS) conducted by Statistics Canada provides insight into the provinces and territories where immigrants feel a strong sense of belonging.  According to the survey, immigrants in Ontario and the Atlantic-Canadian provinces (Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and New Brunswick) reported a powerful sense of belonging to Canada.
