Canada unveils permanent residence route for former protective care minors Canada unveils permanent residence route for former Protective Care minors On January 23, 2024. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a policy to address individuals who came to Canada as minors under protective care but never obtained permanent residence or citizenship. As these individuals may face deportation and have little connection to their birth country, the policy provides a pathway to permanent residence.  This protection extends until January 21, 2027, building on measures from fall 2023 that allowed eligible individuals to apply for a temporary resident permit (TRP) and a work or study permit, thus reducing the risk of removal. Canada announced a new Humanitarian PR pathway for immigrants from the Americas On October 10, 2023, Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced a new humanitarian permanent residence pathway for individuals from the Americas. Canada will welcome 15,000 migrants and provide regular migration pathways to people in the Americas, offering economic opportunities as an alternative to irregular migration.  As part of this commitment, Canada will welcome up to 11,000 Colombians, Haitians, and Venezuelans through the new pathway. Canada started inviting candidates under the Parents and Grandparents Program

  Canada started inviting candidates under the Parents and Grandparents Program On October 10, 2023, the Canadian Government started inviting candidates through the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). From October 10 to October 23, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will send invitations to apply to 24,200 potential sponsors selected randomly from the pool of submissions from 2020.  IRCC aims to receive 15,000 complete applications . Candidates who submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020 but have yet to receive an invitation to apply for the PGP in 2021 or 2022 should continue checking their emails for the invitation from IRCC.   Over 4,000 candidates invited in the IEC Rounds of Invitations 2023 Over the last week, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the IEC rounds of invitations 2023. From August 26 to September 1, Canada invited 4,314 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of September 1, 28,284 candidates registered in the pool, awaiting the invitation.  Overview of candidates invited in the new IEC Rounds of Invitations 2023 In this round, in the new IEC Draws, 4000 ITAs were sent out to candidates.
