The processing time is updated quarterly (every three months). It indicates the average time it took to process an application in that quarter. Time is measured in weeks for each category. Processing times can vary and are not always a reliable indicator of future applications. The average processing time for 80% of applications is provided below. It is the time between when an application is first received and when it is finally processed. The fastest and slowest 10% of applications are considered outliers and are excluded from the average. IRCC invited the first IEC candidates of 2024 Over the last week, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws in the pools of International Experience Canada (IEC). From January 1 to January 12, Canada invited 11,922 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit . As of January 12, 36,060 candidates have registered in the pool and are awaiting the invitation. IRCC eased work permit application requirements for family class applicants

IRCC eased work permit application requirements for family class applicants Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued an update regarding the public policy for spouses or common-law partners in Canada (SCLPC) class, as well as family class applicants applying within Canada.  As of December 7, 2023, to prevent family class applicants from losing their status while awaiting acknowledgment of receipt for their permanent residence application, the IRCC will now accept open work permit applications without the acknowledgment of receipt.  This policy applies to applicants who can provide the necessary proof that their work permit , study permit, or temporary resident status is due to expire within two weeks. Public Policy for Spouses or Common-law Partners in Canada This public policy allows sponsored spouses and partners to support their families and build a life together in Canada. Sponsored spouses and partners, as well as their family members, contribute to the socia
