On February 12, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced further revisions to the Agri-Food Pilot Program. These changes aim to make the program more accessible and beneficial to both workers and employers in the agri-food sector.  In line with the instructions announced on May 8, 2023, the Government of Canada updated the Agri-Food Pilot program to include the following changes: applicants in Canada now have the flexibility to meet either the job offer or education requirements and submit work experience gained under an open work permit for vulnerable workers. These changes have positive implications for both employees and employers in the agri-food sector. By providing more flexibility in meeting eligibility criteria, the revised program attracts a more diverse set of candidates, including those who may have gained relevant experience through alternative channels such as open work permits. Canada assists 6,600 internationally trained health professionals to work in Canada Canada accelerates accreditation for foreign health professionals. The Canadian Government assists 6,600 internationally trained health professionals to work in Canada by providing $86 million for credential recognition. The funding will be allocated to 15 different organizations to improve foreign credential recognition in key health professions. The 15 funded projects that span the country will: Reduce barriers to foreign credential recognition for IEHPs by improving recognition processes, simplifying credential recognition steps, and providing increased field practice opportunities. Provide IEHPs with relevant Canadian work experience in their chosen fields, as well as wrap-around services such as childcare and transportation, mentoring, and coaching. Immigration through Canada's Start-Up Visa program has more than doubled  In November, a 32.5% drop was observed in Start-Up Visa (SUV) entrepreneur immigration, following a rebound in October, as per data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The IRCC has set goals to welcome 5,000, 6,000, and 6,000 new residents via the SUV in 2024, 2025, and 2026 respectively.  Despite a slowdown in November, the program is expected to achieve record permanent resident admissions by the end of 2023. Until November, the SUV had facilitated the arrival of 1,145 new residents, marking a 104.5% increase from the previous year. Most SUV immigrants choose Ontario and British Columbia as their destinations, with Alberta, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia also seeing some arrivals. Ontario invited nearly a thousand French-speaking candidates to the new OINP draw On January 18, 2024, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) held the first round of invitations in Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream.  In this round, the OINP issued 984 Invitations to Apply for the Francophone candidates. The Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) range of candidates who received the Notification of Interest from the OINP was between 317 and 469 points.  The Express Entry profiles of the candidates were created between January 18, 2023, and January 18, 2024. So far, in 2024, Ontario has invited 4,987 candidates under the OINP. In New Manitoba invitation round 205, MPNP invited 160 candidates In New Manitoba invitation round 205, MPNP invited 160 candidates On December 28, 2023, Manitoba held the latest invitation round 205 in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, the MPNP invited 160 candidates under the Close relative in Manitoba selection with a minimum score of 612.  In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream , MPNP issued 27 LAAs to candidates invited under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The lowest score in the SWO category was 698 points.  In addition, 67 invitations were issued in the International Education Stream.
