Nova Scotia invited healthcare professionals to participate in the Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot (HPIP)

On November 3, 2023, the Provincial Government of Nova Scotia invited candidates to participate in the Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot (HPIP). Candidates who want to continue this process should contact the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness. 


Only those who receive a valid job offer from the Nova Scotia Health Authority may immigrate to Nova Scotia as a healthcare professional through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) or the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) Skilled Worker Stream. 


Applicants who participate in the Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot and receive a nomination under the Skilled Worker stream or an endorsement under the Atlantic Immigration Program are not granted 600 points under the Express Entry system. 


The Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot exclusively employs non-Express Entry immigration pathways.



Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)  


The Atlantic Immigration Program is a federal immigration program that helps employers fill labor shortages by attracting skilled foreign workers and international graduates. The following are the requirements for the Atlantic Immigration Program:


  • Job offer from an Atlantic Immigration Program-designated organization.

  • A valid passport and legal status in the country of residence are required.

  • A Canadian high school diploma or the equivalent from another country with an educational credential assessment is required.

  • A minimum CLB 5 in either official language is required for the language test.

  • A reference letter demonstrating one year of work experience in a healthcare-related role.

  • The desire to live and work in Nova Scotia forever.


Nova Scotia Nominee Program


The Skilled Worker Stream of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program assists employers in attracting foreign workers and recently graduated international students whose skills are of interest in Nova Scotia. An employer may only hire foreign workers to fill positions that cannot be filled by permanent residents or Canadian citizens.


The following are the requirements for the Nova Scotia Nominee Program: Skilled Worker Stream:


  • A job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia.

  • A valid passport and legal status in the country of residence are required.

  • Proof of completion of secondary school in your home country.

  • Proof of CLB 5 language proficiency in either official language.

  • A reference letter demonstrating one year of work experience in a healthcare-related role.

  • The desire to live and work in Nova Scotia forever.

The British Columbia PNP invited up to 198 tech professionals and skilled candidates

The British Columbia PNP invited up to 198 tech professionals and skilled candidates On January 16, 2024, the Government of British Columbia held new invitation draws under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and issued invitations to apply to qualified candidates in tech, healthcare, childcare, construction, and veterinary care occupations.  In the tech draw, the province invited 91 candidates. OINP held two draws under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream On January 9, 2024, the Government of Ontario held two draws in the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream ( EJO FW ) Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).  The province issued 821 targeted invitations to apply (ITAs) to tech and healthcare occupations and 630 ITAs for skilled trades workers. The minimum scores for these draws were 40 and 33, respectively.  All invitees have profiles created between January 9, 2023, and January 9, 2024. So far, the province invited 1,451 candidates under the OINP in 2024.
